Identity and Conflict
in the Caucasus
This spring or fall, explore identity, nationalism, and memory studies – as well as the conflicts that have arisen from them – in this multiethnic region. Based in Tbilisi, Georgia, you will also travel to Armenia and Azerbaijan to engage with local experts and gain multiple perspectives on modern issues.
Georgian Language & Culture
This summer course is structured to allow you to practice the Georgian language right away in real-life situations and settings and in that process, highlight Georgian culture, identity, and traditions. Includes host family stay and in-country cultural program.
From Plate to Print: Food Writing in Georgia
This summer course is a month-long, intensive and experiential introduction to Georgian culture and identity through food and travel writing. You’ll travel the country, meet experts, and do hands-on research. Then, write and possibly publish an article with our editors!
Wine and History: Identity, Tradition, and Taste
Offered over spring break, during this 8-day certificate course we will focus on the role of wine in Georgian history and culture, travelling the country as we visit archaeological sites, stroll through Tbilisi’s markets, cook traditional dishes, and meet wine producers.
Crossroads: Geopolitics and Security in the Caucasus
This summer explore the geopolitical significance of the Caucasus in this resume-building program. We will travel to Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia to learn about the worldview and history that has shaped their three very different foreign policies since independence.
